New online access control and intelligent software functions for blueEvo

Winkhaus integrates modular access control centre and strengthens client capability

Winkhaus is further expanding its blueEvo system platform and adding the new BE ZKZ access control centre as well as extensions to the BE blueControl administration software. The innovations increase transparency, flexibility and security and make the technology more widely applicable.

A key feature of the software update is the new client control tool. It enables tenants or individual organisational units to independently manage access authorisations. Responsibilities can be clearly defined without placing an additional burden on central administration. At the same time, the shared use of central door components remains possible. This makes the system suitable for mixed-use buildings with complex user structures.

The software will be supplemented with a new upload calendar. This specifies the point at which identification media receive authorisation and system information. Holiday periods or similar circumstances can be specifically taken into account and integrated into the planning in order to reduce the administrative effort.

More autonomy thanks to intelligent functions
With the new BE ZKZ access control centre, Winkhaus is expanding blueEvo to include an online-controlled component. It complements existing offline and virtual network applications. It was developed specifically for the real-time requirements associated with security-critical areas in industrial plants and government institutions. It is typically used on doors to server rooms and sensitive administrative areas, and, if necessary, also for building envelope security.

Access rights can be managed centrally. They can be adjusted or revoked upon request. The BE ZKZ therefore meets the most demanding requirements in terms of both response speed and security. In contrast, changes in virtually networked systems only take effect with the next login or after the defined authorisation interval has expired. The two approaches complement each other perfectly: Virtual networking offers impressive efficiency and reduced infrastructure. Online access control, on the other hand, provides maximum transparency and real-time control.

In addition, special functions such as access repeat locks, door status monitoring with alarm function and presence overviews can be implemented. In addition, doors can be opened with a mouse click in the administration software. This means that the use of individual areas remains controllable at all times.

Special events or alarms may be evaluated via the software and forwarded to the relevant departments. They may also be accessed via the BE blueConnect middleware. The BE ZKZ is designed for mounting on a DIN rail. It can be integrated into both new and existing infrastructures. Thanks to its modular design, the technology can be introduced cost-effectively and expanded gradually over time. The maximum extension level allows for a connection of up to eight doors.

A key feature of the ZKZ device is its offline capability. This ensures that the system remains fully functional for up to 31 days, even in the event of network or IT outages. Access data is stored locally so that operations can continue without interruption. Existing blueEvo installations can be upgraded to BE blueControl Ultimate by entering a licence code. Online readers and access control centres can be integrated into the existing system environment – when switching from an existing access control system to blueEvo, the new system is usually connected using existing cables. This reduces the cost of retrofitting.

“With online access control, we are adding an extra system level to blueEvo, providing a real-time solution for demanding applications. At the same time, we are making the BE blueControl solution even more flexible and future-proof. Users gain greater transparency, independence and control, even when availability and reliability requirements are highly demanding,” explains Dr.-Ing. Volker Brink, Director of Product Management Access Control at Winkhaus.
